Many exotics such as Tractor Cannon and Graviton Lance are pure Golden Age originals, while others like The Jade Rabbit are wholly built from repurposed tech cut apart and reassembled by City gunsmiths. Researchers focus on decrypting Golden Age data, recreating Golden Age tech, discovering new caches of surviving Golden Age equipment. But even as people get back on their feet the shadow of the Golden Age looms over every aspect of culture and technology - Golden Age ruins, Golden Age relics, reclaiming the Golden Age, and on and on. Humanity itself only barely escaped extinction.īy the time of Destiny 1, it’s been somewhere between 8 years since the Collapse - our records are so bad we don’t even know that - and humanity is starting to put itself together within the stronghold of the Last Safe City, defended by the Guardians and what remains of the Traveler hanging overhead. Tremendous volumes of knowledge and culture were lost. Then came the Darkness, and the Collapse, the end of a half-dozen worlds. ![]() It’s not clear how long the Golden Age lasted, but it was probably on the order of a century. People colonized the newly-terraformed worlds of the solar system and built tech unfathomable only a decade before. In the timeline of Destiny, the Traveler arrived in 2014 and heralded the dawn of the Golden Age, a period of incredible technological advancement and expansion for humanity. That bonus has a hard cap at the amount of time it takes Coldheart to chew through its 100-round magazine (hint: it’s faster than you think), but it can still hit impressive levels.Ĭoldheart’s lore tab is funny, but the section I quoted in the images has a deeper significance. Each trace rifle has a bonus that increases as the player fires Coldheart’s is that the longer you hold it on target, the more damage it does. Rather than firing discrete shots, trace rifles project a continuous beam (and continually drain the magazine) for as long as the player holds down the trigger. ![]() “Trace rifle” is Destiny’s fancy name for its beam weapon archetype. But with a name like “Coldheart” and frosty ornaments like Sub-Zero, you know what they mean. Since Destiny’s three elemental damage types don’t include ice, Coldheart technically deals electrical (Arc) damage, so it can’t freeze targets or make them shatter or anything cool like that. FYI, that is not what the “cold” in cold fusion means. Coldheart fires an ice laser, making its name pretty on-the-nose. Origin & Description: The City-based Omolon Foundry is the Apple of the Destiny universe and their product pitches are correspondingly hilarious the lore tab on Hard Light, another of their products, even includes a shoutout to Steve Jobs’ famous “one more thing.” Their Coldheart weapon is the Arc member of the trio of elemental trace rifles, the others being Prometheus Lens (Solar) and Wavesplitter (Void). Trait: Longest Winter - Periodically generates Ionic Traces while in its high-damage state. Perk: Cold Fusion - This weapon fires a steady, cold fusion-powered Arc laser, dealing more damage the longer it remains on a target. The latest Omolon engineering leverages liquid fuel as coolant to keep weapon systems at biting subzero temperatures.
